Getting Some Whistler Culture

Long before the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and the flood of international thrill seekers. Well before the building of the ski resort, and the arrival of adventurous Europeans, Whistler was the main trading route of the Squamish and Lil’wat First Nations. These pioneers, the natural mountain environment and outdoor recreation have since inspired a vibrant arts and culture community. In 2009, Whistler was designated the “Cultural Capital of Canada” for its’ strong and ongoing commitment to arts and culture. So, while in Whistler, get cultured!

Whistler Culture

Start your journey at the Whistler Museum to learn about the area’s rich and entertaining cultural history, carry on to the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre to get a glimpse into the First Nations unique histories, creative works and cultures.
